Sacred Tree, Homeward Bound

神树归巢

  • Dimensions: 75 cm × 120 cm
  • Materials: Silk, silk threads
  • Year of Creation: 2015

Inspired by the Bronze Sacred Tree unearthed at Sanxingdui, this embroidery blends ancient legend with the vibrant artistry of the Jiarong Tibetan and Qiang peoples. The tree is adorned with flowers, vines, birds, and butterflies—symbols of life and renewal. The artist reimagines the missing Sun Bird, stitching it at the tree’s crown to bring a sense of homecoming and vitality.

By reviving this iconic artifact in thread, the work creates a dialogue between the ancient Shu civilization and today’s living cultures, inviting viewers to reflect on the enduring connections that shape China’s rich heritage.
