On September 16, 2023, a grand celebration marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture (commonly known as Aba Prefecture) was held in its capital city, Maerkang. Representatives of all ethnic groups from the 13 counties and cities across the region, together with guests from all sectors of society, gathered to witness this historic moment.

The celebration featured an elaborate cultural performance, with nearly ten thousand participants dressed in vibrant traditional attire. Through heartfelt songs and energetic dances, they paid tribute to the beauty of their homeland and expressed hope for a bright and unified future.

Supported by the professional expertise of the college and Master Yang Huazhen’s team, the project is dedicated to establishing a platform that integrates skills training, employment support, and entrepreneurship incubation, enabling the precious Tibetan and Qiang culture to flourish with new vitality in modern production.

One of the visual highlights of the performance was a monumental embroidery artwork titled Pomegranate of Unity, specially created for the occasion by nationally recognized intangible cultural heritage inheritor Yang Huazhen. The piece uses the imagery of tightly clustered pomegranate seeds to symbolize harmony, solidarity, and mutual support among the many ethnic groups of Aba. It vividly reflects the collective spirit of the Chinese people working together to realize the national dream.
